Intelect is widely recognised for its dedication to apprenticeships, both locally and nationally. As part of Apprenticeship Week, they host an annual open day, inviting our PoW Ambassadors to their Middlesbrough site for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at what an engineering company is really like.
This year, we welcomed ambassadors from different schools across two engaging sessions. From 3D scanning to the factory workshop (because who doesn’t love a laser cutter?) and the electrical panel-building room, the students explored a wide variety of engineering roles—proving there’s something for every interest!
The event is brilliantly organised each year by Lily Brothwood. She also brings in young apprentices to help lead the tours, giving students the chance to connect with relatable role models already on their career journey.
The verdict from our young visitors? “I need to consider an apprenticeship when I’m older!” Mission accomplished!
Power of Women is a community interest company dedicated to building confidence, creating opportunities and unlocking potential for young people across the Tees Valley.
Spearheaded by the Late Professor Jane Turner OBE DL, this campaign embodies Jane’s determination and commitment to improving life chances of girls in the Tees Valley region. We want to give girls and young women of the region the inspiration, tools and support that they need to take control over the direction of their own lives, and to not just survive, but thrive.
