Name and job title: Lizzie Cummings, PoW Board Member and Director of Operations at Newcastle Building Society.
Super POWer: With over 20 years of experience in Financial Services, including as a Head of Risk, my Super POWer is helping organisations become stronger, more resilient and ready for whatever comes their way. As Director of Operations, I bring my experience in risk, governance and strategic planning to help ensure POW has the right foundations in place to grow, manage challenges and deliver its mission effectively.
Fun Fact: I´m originally from Yorkshire and so am a firm believer that adding gravy to most meals is a must. I love to dance and am a strictly addict.
What I love about POW: I feel extremely privileged to be able to support an organisation with a clear mission; to make a difference and provide access to opportunities for all. PoW aims to raise the aspirations of young people in the region, showing them, they have options and empowering them to realise their potential. Seeing and speaking to students, providing them with access to role models who operate in a variety of industries and seeing their confidence grow.
Power of Women is a community interest company dedicated to building confidence, creating opportunities and unlocking potential for young people across the Tees Valley.
Spearheaded by the Late Professor Jane Turner OBE DL, this campaign embodies Jane’s determination and commitment to improving life chances of girls in the Tees Valley region. We want to give girls and young women of the region the inspiration, tools and support that they need to take control over the direction of their own lives, and to not just survive, but thrive.
