Name and Job Title: Jane Armitage, Chair
Super POWer: I was a solicitor for many years and managing partner of Jacksons Law Firm for 6 years which gave me the opportunity to work with many people and to help them develop their career and to work with them on raising aspirations especially with our apprentices. I think my Super POWer now is that having retired from work as a lawyer I have more time to give to POW!
Fun Fact: I am an adopted Teessider, having been born in the south of England. I have lived in Bristol and Chicago but home is definitely here in the North-East.
What I love about POW: The positive difference we make to the aspirations of young people; seeing students break out into smiles and seeing their confidence grow. I love meeting our students and talking to them about why POW matters to them and how passionate they are about equality and opportunity for all. Our primary ambassadors have such a clear vision and by the end of our ambassador programme are so confident and determined that it is a joy to see. The stories of our young people are truly inspiring and it is a privilege to get the opportunity to meet with them.
