Power of Women

About Us

The Power of Women campaign was created by a group of business leaders in the North East who were sick and tired of young women in their region being constantly overlooked. Led by the late Professor Jane Turner OBE DL, together they came up with an action plan to improve the lives of young women in the Tees Valley and beyond.

We’re not just a talking shop. Each of us is committed to disrupting the status quo, for good.

Our Goals & Core Values

The Power of Women campaign was created to put an end to gender inequality. We want to help the young girls and women of the Tees Valley by

1. Showing you what’s possible. By collecting stories and examples from women in the Tees Valley who have gone on to be happy and successful, we want to demonstrate to young girls that they shouldn’t be limited by their postcode.

2. Giving you the tools to get to where you want to be. Once we’ve shown you that there are no limitations on your future, we want to help you find the path to get there. Our education and careers portals will help you plot a roadmap from where you are now to where you deserve to be in the future.

3. Keeping you inspired, motivated and supported on your journey. Across the Tees Valley, there are so many people who want you to succeed. If you feel like you’re struggling with school, work, of even your confidence, we can help point you in the right direction to those who can help you.

Here’s why we do it

The Power of Women Campaign brings together all the people who are fed up of being told we can’t do things because of our gender, background or hometown. It’s just not good enough. Even though the UK ranks 6th in Europe on the Gender Equality Index, there is still lots of work to do before everyone is safe and free from prejudice. The statistics on the realities of gender inequality speak for themselves.
